Conflict Management Toolkit | Issues in Practice

The Issues in Practice section contains reports from the yearly conflict management field trip undertaken by students from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.  This part of the toolkit also includes conceptual studies that span all five Conflict Management pillars. The concepts covered may be of particular contemporary relevance, such as Humanitarian Aid, or have been the subject of debate and scrutiny in recent years, such as Safe Havens and Small Arms.  Alternatively, they may be an issue that is rapidly developing in the scholarship and practice of conflict management, such as Evaluation and Assessment of Conflict Management. All of the topics merit examination in greater depth: all present challenges to carrying out the different theoretical approaches discussed here, and more importantly, they represent real problems for the practice of conflict management today.
