The Grassroots China Initiative is the first phase of a larger project focusing on the effects on Chinese society of the profound economic changes that have been taking place in that country for the past three decades. The initiative offers teaching, student internships, special presentations, research, conferences and cooperative programs with grassroots organizations in China. Its premier project, launched in August 2007, is a three-year training program for grassroots NGOs in Western China.
