EDUCATION:
B.A. in economics from University of Missouri in 1979 Coro fellow in Kansas City in 1978 J.D. Harvard Law School 1983 – took a year long break to work with the Jesuit order as a Catholic missionary in Honduras.
CAREER:
Current Democratic National Committee (elected in 2009) – announced he intends to remain chair for another two year term. Governor of Virginia 2006-2010 Elected to the post of lieutenant governor (2002-2006) and worked for four years with Governor Mark Warner in 2001 Elected to the Richmond City Council in 1994 and served four terms, including two terms as Richmond’s mayor from 1998-2002. Taught legal ethics at the University of Richmond Law School for six years. Practiced law in Richmond VA, specializing in fair-housing issues, and published a law manual on fair housing in 1991
Kaine has a reputation as a fiscal conservative but a progressive on social issues like education, the environment, and health care.
