Speech Writing for Public Policy Makers

Course Description
This course instructs students on how to write a well-conceived and crafted speech, which can be a powerful strategic tool_ to educate, persuade, inspire, console, celebrate, or summon to action.ÿ The interactive course will teach the fundamentals of speechwriting with style.ÿ Topics covered will include conducting efficient research; crafting persuasive arguments; weaving in _color_ and humor;_ capturing the speaker_s voice; and using clear, compelling language and effective rhetorical devices. The workshop will include a review of real-life speech clips and texts as well as writing exercises.ÿ
