European Studies

Southeast Asia Studies

The Southeast Asia Studies Program provides an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the nations, states, institutions and peoples of Southeast Asia in the 21st century. The program offers courses in Southeast Asia history, politics, economics, development and security.

South Asia Studies

The South Asia Studies Program provides a foundation for understanding the dynamics of this crucial region and offers students the opportunity to concentrate on a part of the world whose importance in international affairs is increasingly recognized by the policy and corporate community.

Korea Studies

The Korea Studies Program was launched in 2006 in response to a growing demand for intensive study of political, security and economic issues on the Korean Peninsula. In its relatively short history, the program has grown rapidly to become one of the nation’s leading Korea policy studies programs, preparing the next generation of leaders and professionals in the field of Korean affairs.

Japan Studies

Japan is changing, both in security and economic affairs, after a generation of drift. The Japan Studies Program, with accomplished scholars, policy-experienced professionals and real-world work opportunities for students, is catching the wave.

China Studies

The China Studies Program offers a multidisciplinary and historically grounded curriculum. The curriculum reflects China’s increasing international influence from its foreign policy and presence in international organizations to its importance in the world economy as well as the domestic political, economic and social changes associated with China’s recent development.

American Foreign Policy

The American Foreign Policy Program prepares students to understand the history (particularly from the Spanish-American War to the present), culture (ideas, premises and perspectives), process and politics of America’s foreign relations and contemporary issues of American foreign policy.

African Studies

The African Studies Program focuses on governance, society, development and security in contemporary Africa. The curriculum draws on comparative approaches and broad contextual knowledge in covering this dynamic region.
