Request Materials

If what you need is not available from Catalyst, the JHU Libraries catalog, you can request material from other libraries.

For books, the first step is Borrow Direct, where you can search and request books from partner universities. Expect delivery in 5 business days. If Borrow Direct does not have what you need, try Interlibrary Loan (ILL). For more information see our ILL Guide.

For journal articles not available via Johns Hopkins, you can go straight to ILL.

Want to recommend a book that SAIS Library should own? Ask a SAIS Librarian to consider it.

Technology

Wireless

A secure wireless network named "hopkins" is available to all current SAIS students, faculty, and staff. Use these set-up instructions or contact saishelp@jhu.edu.

We advise all SAIS affiliates to use the hopkins network, rather than JHGuestnet, as the latter does not give full access to JHU resources.

Printing from your laptop or mobile device

A one-time setup (PDF) is needed to configure your mobile device for printing. Printing fees:

Black and white: 7 cents for single or double sided
Color: single-sided: 20 cents, double-sided: 40 cents

Printing from a Library workstation

The Library has 23 workstations for student use. Just click Print, name your job and the double-sided print will appear on the printer/scanner/copier associated with that workstation. Alternate options (color, single-sided) are available.

Off-campus access to JHU Libraries' resources

For JHU-licensed databases, use the links provided via Library's website and you'll be directed to the JHED login screen. Enter your JHED ID and password for access.
