              SAIS Alumni College 2008
          Thursday, October 23 through
                 Saturday, October 25

                           Overview

SAIS introduced its first-ever Alumni College last October in Washington, D.C. In a recent survey, many alumni expressed a desire to reconnect with SAIS.  Alumni College is the result.  The program offers a unique and exclusive experience to reconnect with classmates as well as engage with senior SAIS faculty, other high-profile experts and current students during a specially designed series of classes, events and seminars.  We invite you to "return to class" with interactive seminars taught by distinguished SAIS faculty. Last year's program faculty included Frank Fukuyama, Michael Mandelbaum, John McLaughlin, David Lampton, Esther Brimmer, Roger Leeds, Riordan Roett and Mary Habeck.  In addition to faculty-led classes, prominent alumni served as keynote speakers at the event.  The line-up included Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns, former U.S. Congressman Jim Leach, Georgetown University Professor Chester Crocker and energy expert Dr. Edward Morse.

And in true SAIS tradition, lively discussions will continue outside the classroom—with luncheons, receptions and other events for socializing.

As SAIS marks its 64th year of educating leaders in international affairs, I know you are proud—as am I—to be among the school’s 13,000-plus alumni working in business, government, international organizations, non-profits and journalism in over 140 countries. Around the world, SAIS graduates make a difference as they make their contributions to their communities and beyond their borders.

We have heard your call over the years for a forum to return to campus to refresh your education and reconnect with classmates, colleagues and professors. In response, we have designed Alumni College as an intense two-day program of lectures, keynote speakers and social occasions—perfect for the busy professional.

I look forward to welcoming you back to SAIS in October for this rewarding and enjoyable event.

Jessica P. Einhorn, Ph.D.
Dean of SAIS
1970 SAIS Graduate

The keynote speakers and SAIS faculty members participating in Alumni College have represented impressive backgrounds and fields, including one of the highest-ranking officials at the State Department, a former congressman, the former CIA acting director, regional experts, specialists in international finance and best-selling authors.

Through a combination of lectures and interactive seminars, these distinguished faculty members and leading U.S. policymakers will address a range of political, national security and economic issues facing the United States in the coming years.

Don’t miss this opportunity to explore these and other timely issues with fellow alumni, friends of SAIS, current students, guest speakers and SAIS faculty.
