1) San Francisco Alumni Host Career Trek for Students over Spring Break
Carine Gursky '96 and fellow alumni were instrumental in helping 18 students  "trek" to San Francisco to visit graduates working in various fields and to meet up for an informal happy hour.   A warm thank you to our San Francisco-based alumni who participated in or arranged for employer meetings to help current SAISers find jobs.
 
2) Alumnus Speaks on Mongolia's Past, Present and Future
Where is Mongolia 18 years after the fall of Communism and 800 years after the creation of the Mongolian state under Ghenghis Khan?  Charles Krusekopf '94, China Studies alumnus and executive director of the American Center for Mongolian Studies, will speak at SAIS Monday, March 31 at 12:30 p.m. in Room 103 of the Rome Building (1619 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W.).  RSVP to 202.663.5816.

3)  Professor Roett to Speak at NYC Alumni Gathering
Join fellow New York-area alumni for "Foreign Policy Prescriptions for the New President" with Professor Riordan Roett, director of Western Hemisphere Studies and the Latin American Studies Program at SAIS. This event will take place on Tuesday, April 8 at Morgan Stanley, 750 7th Avenue (at 49th Street). Reception begins at 6:30 p.m.; remarks at 7:15 p.m. This event is hosted by Arthur Rubin '92, James Upton '92, David Steel '01 and Dylan Pereira '02. 4)  East Asian Multilateralism:  A Discussion With Professors Fukuyama and Calder
Join the JHU Washington, D.C. Chapter to meet Francis Fukuyama, director of the International Development Program at SAIS and Kent E. Calder, director of the Japan Studies Program and the Edwin O. Reischauer Center for East Asian Studies.  Together, they examine the range of implications of shifting alignments in East Asia and analyze the issues relating to world stability and security.  Join us on Tuesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. in Kenney Auditorium  (1740 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W.) for this informative lecture and discussion. 5) Former Congressman James Leach '66 to Lead Discussion on Youth Vote in America
As part of the "Year of Elections and Foreign Policy," SAIS and Harvard University's Institute of Politics will co-host a forum about "The 2008 Elections: Tracking the Youth Vote" on Thursday, April 24 at 11 a.m. Former Iowa Congressman James Leach '66, director of the Institute of Politics, will be the featured speaker at this event to release the results of Harvard's 14th bi-annual "Youth Survey on Politics and Public Service." 6) May Reunion alla Bolognese 
The SAIS Bologna Center invites alumni and friends to celebrate friendships forged on campus since its founding in 1955.  On May 2, 3 and 4, alumni return to the center's hallowed halls for the quintessential Bologna experience of savory food and stimulating conversation. The weekend includes a roundtable discussion with alumni on "Democracy: Is it Working? Elections Around the World and the Ties to International Relations," moderated by John L.Harper B '76, '77, Ph.D.'81 professor of American foreign policy and European studies.  Alumni are invited to arrange a rendezvous with friends, though official class dinners will be held Saturday, May 3. 7) All Aboard the Trans-Siberian Express With Professor Bruce Parrott
All aboard! Join Professor Bruce Parrott, director of the Russian and Eurasian Studies Program at SAIS, and other Johns Hopkins alumni and friends to traverse the largest country in the world via the Trans-Siberian Express. 8) A Festive Evening in New York for Amici di Bologna
Amici di Bologna, an informal association of U.S.-based Bologna Center alumni, announce its first gala dinner on Saturday, June 7 in New York City.  Organized by alumni for alumni, the festive evening of fine food and conversation is an opportunity to renew friendships and share memories of and support for the Bologna Center.  Graduates, their spouses, friends and current students are invited and will be joined by Bologna Center Director Kenneth H. Keller and faculty members. Classmates are encouraged to help organize class tables.  Click here for more information or to register .

9) Shelf Life
The Legal Status of Territories Subject to Administration by International Organisations by Bernhard Knoll  B'97, '98,  Cambridge University Press, (forthcoming July 2008).  The international community's management of post-conflict territories raises important legal questions that Knoll seeks to answer in his upcoming book.   Special adviser to the director of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, Knoll uses Kosovo as a case study and examines the human rights obligations of international organizations. 

10) Local Connections
We learned that David Landes '03 joined the staff of Sweden-based online newspaper The Local only to find that its German operation is headed by SAIS grad Marc Young B'95!
