Financial Aid | Federal Stafford Loan Counseling

Federal regulations require students who borrow funds through the William D. Ford Direct Loan Program (Federal Stafford Loans) to complete loan counseling prior to receiving funds at an institution and when the student either graduates  or drops below half time enrollment.  Loan counseling provided prior to the disbursement of funds is known as an entrance interview; the counseling required when a student leaves an institution is an exit interview.  Loan counseling provides students with an understanding of their rights and responsibilities as a borrower in the William D. Ford Direct Loan Program.

The Office of Financial Aid encourages SAIS students to complete their loan counseling requirements online. If you would prefer to complete your loan counseling in person at the Office of Financial Aid, please contact us.
