In addition to the established formal joint-degree programs, students may create ad hoc joint-degree programs with other prominent graduate programs. Students interested in creating an ad hoc program must submit a proposal to SAIS that includes the approval of the second school. For individuals proposing an ad hoc joint degree program, it may be helpful to provide an external institution unfamiliar with such an arrangement with additional information about SAIS. The SAIS Admissions Office has prepared a document that may be helpful in this process. Please click here to access this document. Students in the past have pursued ad hoc programs at the following schools: - Business schools—Columbia University; University of California, Los Angeles; University of Maryland
- Law schools—Columbia University; Duke University; George Washington University; University of California, Berkeley; University of Michigan; University of Pennsylvania
Please note: only top programs will be considered for an ad hoc joint degree with SAIS
