Timothy Preston

Timothy Preston

Timothy majored in English at the University of Virginia, graduating with high distinction in 2002. Immediately thereafter, he enrolled in the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program, and spent the next three years teaching English in Japan. While based in Japan, Timothy had the opportunity to travel widely throughout East and Southeast Asia, an experience which ignited his passion for the region.

In 2005, Timothy returned to the United States where he enrolled in the George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. While there, he studied a wide range of international legal subjects, including comparative law, international human rights law, and international trade law. He graduated with the degree of Juris Doctor in 2008.

In his first year at SAIS, Timothy looks forward to increasing his understanding of international affairs and of Southeast Asia. He hopes that his experience and education will afford him a career in international policy, and very much looks forward to the opportunities which SAIS will provide.
