Candidates for the M.A. degree in the South Asia Studies Program must complete the general requirements for all SAIS M.A. students (including passage of two core examinations and six courses in international economics) as well as requirements specific to South Asia Studies. The South Asia Studies Program requirements are: - Four courses in South Asia Studies;
- Two other Asian Studies courses;
- Passage of the Hindi language proficiency exam;
- Passage of an oral examination on South Asia, taken in conjunction with the oral in international economics.
M.A. candidates have regular meetings with South Asia Studies faculty to discuss their coursework, using this worksheet as a tool to ensure that all requirements are met.
