South Asia Studies | Himgiri Foundation Award

Beginning in 2005-06, the South Asia Studies program inaugurated the Himgiri Foundation Award for the best paper from a SAIS student that brings new thought or a unique implementation  idea to issues of economic and/or political development in India.  This award, made possible by a generous contribution from SAIS graduate Girish  Rishi, provides its winner with $1000 and recognition during the SAIS Commencement Ceremony. 

Competition
The competition for this award is held in the spring semester.  Details will be announced mid-semester.

Awardees

2006-07: Divya Mathew, for her paper entitled "Agents of Change: Women Leaders in Panchayati Raj Institutions."

Divya Mathew is presented the award by Academic Dean John Harrington at the Commencement Ceremony in May 2007.

2005-06: Antara Ganguli, for her paper entitled "Solving Kashmir: A Non-nation-state Solution to a Nation-state Problem"

Antara Ganguli is congratulated by Prof. Walter Andersen at the Commencement Ceremony in May 2006.

The Himgiri Foundation
