Tuition Tuition for one Pre-Term course is $1,000. Tuition for two courses is $1,500. This fee includes your chosen course work, TA sessions, and participation in catered events and happy hours. The cost of textbooks is additional. Students who take Microeconomics through SAIS Summer Programs 2008 may take Macroeconomics during Pre-Term at a discounted rate of $500. Summer Programs courses count toward the number of required courses for graduation whereas Pre-Term courses do not. Tuition is due in full by Wednesday, July 23, 2008 unless you have made confirmed alternate arrangements. Payment should be made online via https://isis.jhu.edu by e-check or MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Discover credit cards. Enrolled students will receive further instructions on how to access this site after Pre-Term registration closes. Bologna-bound students may submit tuition payments by check or money order, made payable to "Johns Hopkins University-SAIS" or via a Credit Card Authorization Form. Please e-mail the Pre-Term Office no later than Thursday, July 17, if your course selection changes. No tuition will be refunded once Pre-Term begins. There is no add/drop period for Pre-Term as there is during the academic year. Housing SAIS does not provide housing for students. However, suggestions for finding housing in the Washington, D.C., area are listed here. SAIS also maintains an internal housing board that lists summer sublets and year-round housing opportunities. Please refer to www.saisforums.org to register for access to this site. Contact the site administrator if you have technical difficulties. It is recommended that Pre-Term students secure housing in Washington prior to the start of the program.
Insurance Incoming students should note that the University Student Health Insurance Plan will not provide coverage until August 15, 2008. Pre-Term students are therefore responsible for finding and/or maintaining their own health insurance coverage until that date. Click here for more information about health insurance requirements. Disabilities Services If you are a student with a documented disability who requires accommodations or if you think you may have a disability and want to inquire about accommodations, please contact Sarah Jankowsky, Associate Director for Student Life, Office of Student Affairs, at 202.663.5705 or in person in the Nitze Building, Room 202. Please note that students who are seeking special accommodations must submit the appropriate documentation at least two weeks prior to the date they would like their accommodations to begin.
