Korean Language Program | Registration and Placement Exams

Online language registration opens the first day of language classes.

Returning students from the Washington, DC Korean program can register online without taking the placement exam. All other students please follow the instructions below.

New students without any background in the Korean language should register for Novice Korean.

Placement exams

All new students with background in Korean need to take the Korean placement exam in order to be placed in the correct course level.

The Korean placement exam is comprised of two parts: (a) written exam, and (b) an in-person oral interview. Students are required to take the written exam prior to meeting for their oral interview.

1.    Written placement exams will be given the week before classes begin.  The time, date, and location will be announced at the SAIS Language Fair during Orientation.

2.     Sign up for an oral interview. The sign-up sheet will be available at the SAIS Language Fair and posted outside of BOB 624.

3.    At the end of the interview, you will be advised on what course to take.

4.    Register on ISIS. Online registration opens the first day of language classes.
