Hindi-Urdu Language Program | Faculty

Lakhan Gusain is the Coordinator and Professorial Lecturer for the SAIS Hindi-Urdu Program.  He received his M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Linguistics from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. Prior to SAIS, Professor Gusain taught Hindi and Urdu at various levels at University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and Washington University in St. Louis. Author of four books on grammar of various South Asian languages, Professor Gusain's research interests include languages and national security, sociolinguistics and rare South Asian languages.

Sat Paul Goyal is the Instructor for the SAIS Hindi-Urdu Program. He received his M.A. and M.Phil. in Linguistics from Punjab University at Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh University at Simla, respectively. Prior to SAIS, Professor Goyal has taught Hindi-Urdu since 1974 at various levels at various institutes in the US.

Rizwanur Rahman is the Instructor for the SAIS Hindi-Urdu Program. He received his M.A. and M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Arabic and Linguistics from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. Professor Rahman has taught South Asian and Mid-Eastern languages at Cairo and Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.
