Mohamed Derbi, MA
Arabic Language Program Coordinator and Professor

Currently an instructor at the Foreign Service Institute School of Language Studies, American University and The George Washington University; taught at Inlingua Training Center in Arlington, Va., Seattle Central Community College, North Seattle Community College and City University of Seattle; served as an analyst and translator for the Public Affairs Department at the United Arab Emirates Embassy and as a research assistant in the Economics Department at Colorado State University; was program administrator for the Center for Arabic Language Abroad; M.A., economics and econometrics, University of Colorado

Cathy Calhoun, MA
Adjunct Professor

She received a BA in Philosophy from Yale Univesity. She received her masters in Modern Arabic Language and Literature from Ohio State University. She also studied at the American University in Cairo and was on the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qator University. She taught in the UAE for 14 years. Currently, she teaches Arabic at George Washington University and SAIS at Johns Hopkins. Ccalhou3@jhu.edu

Zainab Al-Alwani, Ph. D. Candidate
Adjunct Professor

A Ph. D. candidate at International Islamic University of Malaysia. A teacher and director of Islamic & Arabic studies along with the culture of Middle East at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). She also teaches Qur'anic Studies at the Graduate School of Islamic Social Studies (GSISS.) She has been teaching at SAIS for few semesters.zainabalwani@yahoo.com
