Ghana Intersession Trip January 2009
The International Development and African Studies programs at SAIS conducted a joint study trip to Ghana in January 2009. Two themes served as the basis for the trip: the political development of Ghana as one of Africa’s leading democracies and Ghana’s economic development, in particular the development of private enterprise. As preparation for the two weeks of interacting with development actors, private sector groups, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and others, the students attended a 10-week lecture series during the fall semester. A group of 12 M.A. candidates of varied backgrounds and interest participated, along with the two trip leaders, Adjunct Professor Jon Kraus and Adjunct Faculty Advisor Andreas Hipple.
