International Development | IDEV Intersession Field Practicum 2010 - El Salvador

The IDEV Intersession Field Practicum 2010 – El Salvador was a six month learning activity organized and sponsored by the International Development Program (IDEV) at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). The centerpiece of the Field Practicum was a two week visit to El Salvador by 11 IDEV master’s students from January 3-15, 2010.  Professor Frank Fukuyama, senior faculty and IDEV director, and Brian Norris, junior faculty, Seth Colby, Director of the Schwartz Forum on Constructive Capitalism, and Federico Qüerio, Practicum Student Coordinator led the visit.  Students interviewed leaders in Salvadoran politics, government, and the private sector on a broad range of topics relevant to democratic governance.  A fall 2009 lecture series in Washington, D.C. at the SAIS campus featuring experts on El Salvador prepared group for the January visit.  Student research projects on various public administration topics rounded out the Field Practicum activities.
