Charles F. Doran, Director The Global Theory and History Program examines continuity and change in the formation and maturation of territorially focused relations, along with transnational forces and ideologies. The program includes the interplay of political economy, diplomatic and military strategies and cultural civilizations. A global perspective on world politics requires a framework of analysis that theory and history can provide. In an age where the Information Revolution, the end of the Cold War, the rise of new states and the struggle to maintain reliable supplies of energy dominate news stories, the study of theory and history enables the student to make coherent sense of these diverse events. Preparation in this subject is particularly useful for careers in government, management consulting and academic research and to those who seek to draw broad policy conclusions regarding security and international political economy. Campus Options Students studying at the Bologna Center may concentrate in Global Theory and History.
