He received his Ph.D. in economics from Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, and his Masters degree in economics from University of Aarhus, Denmark. During his graduate studies, he spent one year as visiting graduate student at University of California at Berkeley. Prior to joining SAIS, Dr. Sørensen worked as a research fellow at the Danish research center Centre for Economic and Business Research (2000-2002), as a Government official in the Danish Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs (1999), and as an economist at a large Danish consulting firm (1997-98). He currently holds an appointment as a core member at the Centre for Economic and Business Research .
